How to Make Delicious Bacon Wrapped Brie Bites

The new year brings new adventures and of course new brie-ginnings. As requested by you, our first post of the year is a bacon brie recipe. Go big or go home is a theme of the past. In 2021, we start the year by creating maximum flavor in a size that can fit in your pocket. So put away your cargo bags and suitcases and pull out your fanny packs; bacon brie bites have entered the building.

A great part about this recipe is that it’s not only an easy appetizer, but if you have extras they serve as a perfect morning snack as well! Simply pop them in the microwave and they’re just as good as they were when fresh.

Ingredient Check

Interested in making this recipe but missing some ingredients? Well you’re in luck because you can substitute a few of these items with other alternatives.

If you cannot find the Supreme bites, there are a few other options you can use instead. For example, Trader Joe’s has their own brand of tiny brie wheels as well. Président brie has a brie log and a wheel with individually wrapped wedges that could work too. If you just so happen to have a leftover wedge or wheel, you can even cut thick cubes or slices too (we’ll discuss this more later on).

Similarly to our Mummy Wrapped Brie, you can also use puff pastry dough as well instead of crescent dough. The nice part about the Pepperidge Farm Pastry Sheets is that the dough has precut square perforations you can use to make each bite the same size. Just note, you may have to defrost the dough or keep it out for 10-15 minutes prior to use.

To make your bites extra breakfast inspired, consider trying out maple syrup instead of honey. Both options give the brie bites a perfect sweetness.

Recipe Tips

While experimenting with our bites, we noticed a few useful tips to take into account.

First, make sure to be cautious with your thyme management. As a hefty amount may be good in some recipes, it will overpower the pastry and transition from a bacon bite to a thyme bite.

You may also notice your pastry dough start to get sticky the more it becomes room temperature. If this happens, don’t be alarmed. We lightly sprayed our pan but with the bacon grease, it may not be necessary. Simply transfer your pan into the oven and await your easy apps to fluff and crisp.

If you go by our recipe measurements and buy a package of bacon, you will have leftover bacon that you can either store, use to make our bacon brie pasta or cook to side with your breakfast.

Looking to make more than 6? If you decide to double or even triple the recipe, we recommend buying a wheel of brie instead. As the Supreme brie bites only come with 5 tiny bites, it would be more cost effective to cube a wheel of brie. For the batch that we made though, the bites were just the perfect amount.
