Glenbrook Brewery: The Ultimate Morristown Experience
American Craft Beer has played an important role in the history of our country. So much so that the entire month of May has been deemed “American Craft Beer Month”. And what better way to commemorate the land of the free than by shedding light on a Revolutionary Brewery? This brewery we speak of is Glenbrook Brewery. Located in Morris County, the military capital of the American Revolution, this brewery encapsulates the war history that makes the town so unique.
Not only is this brewery rich with historical craft beers, but it also makes for a great trip with its upbeat atmosphere and offerings. Check out our take on this American themed hidden gem.
Glenbrook Brewery Location
This local Morristown brewery is located on Morris street, right passed the infamous Morristown Green. Sitting in between a few local small businesses, the brewery has a Garage-type look to it. Appearing small on the outside, Glenbrook lines the front with picnic tables in the warmer months, perfect for pets. Between this and the vast inside area, this brewery has much to offer from beer and seltzer to games and good times.
The Glenbrook Experience
Upon our first Glenbrook experience, we were met with an accommodating staff and offered games to bring to the table. Most of the games available were classic board games. If drinking games or team games are more preferred, they welcome you to bring your own to play. In addition to this, the brewery had tasting flights and an endless beverage selection. Like most breweries, Glenbrook handles flights by giving out flight cards. After reviewing the options, there are 4 flight slots in which to write in your best Revolutionary-themed option.
The highlight of Glenbrook are the games available. While waiting for your flight, you can participate in a friendly game of cards, Yahtzee and many others. Of course, as bloggers, we chose to play the ultimate game of words: boggle. However, if known, we would have definitely brought a few of our favorite group games.
The only items they do not have in-house are food options. They do encourage you to bring your own and they also have take out menus available for food to be delivered right to the brewery. Although, we recommend bringing a cheesy brie appetizer or charcuterie of your liking!
Must Bring List:
- Your favorite party games (suitable for table playing; they have their own selection of games as well)
- Food
- This is a great charcuterie making opportunity as they currently have no food options available
- Room for beer!
Brew Preferences
- Mac Collach KolschTM
- The perfect poolside beverage to satisfy any Jersey heatwave. If peasants drink Corona, this beer was meant for a queen! (Must Try)
- Jacob’s Arnold PorterTM
- The darkest beer selection of choice, this porter includes aromas of a chocolate cake and a nice warm cup of joe. The coffee nodes in the beer give the flavor a more bitter aftertaste while the chocolate richness helps sweeten it up. Do note, the beer is very heavy so think twice before pairing with a burger! Overall, this beer is a good flight addition.
- Schuyler SeltzerTM
- The seltzer option they have available is very similar to that of a Blackberry Truly. On point with its fizz and clear complexion, the seltzer is a good outlier to the vast beer selection available.
- The Accidental ShandyTM
- This mistaken blend of seltzer and ale is the perfect summer thirst quencher. Between the nodes of bubbly berry and lightness of the ale, this option is no mistake in our book.
Final Brewery Thoughts
While passing through Morristown, this brewery is a great stop to add to your agenda. As Morristown is notorious for their bar scene, this brewery brings a more conversational scene into the mix. Between light background music, friendly camaraderie, and a staff that is more than happy to answer whatever questions you may have, this place is a must stop shop to check out! As they are new to the area, Glenbrook has definitely made some improvements since we’ve last been there. Adding more handcrafted wood tables, more beer options, and outdoor picnic tables and heaters (depending on the season), Glenbrook Brewery has placed much detail into the space they have.
